MEET THE STAFF

 Ashli Self, M.A., CCC-SLP  Speech-Language Pathologist - ashli@selftalktherapyservices.com

As owner of Self Talk Therapy Services, Ashli primarily serves as office manager in charge of billing, scheduling, and collaborating with parents and other professionals.  She still enjoys working with clients, and specializes in articulation, phonological disorders and apraxia of speech.  Ashli received her Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University in 2013.

​Blake is our primary full-time therapist at Self Talk.  With a great deal of experience working in the schools, Blake enjoys collaborating with parents and other professionals on individualized education plans and care plans to ensure that your child gets well-rounded care. He specializes in expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language, as well as apraxia of speech.  He has extensive experience working with children with autism.  Blake received his Master’s degree from Northern Illinois University in 2013.

Anna is a contracted part-time therapist for Self Talk.  Anna went to University of Illinois for her undergraduate degree in Communications, and attended NIU for my post-baccalaureate and masters program in Speech-Language Pathology. She is interested in working with people of all ages, especially those with complex communication needs. She is an animal lover to her core. She has a pup who she would love to one day get certified as a therapy dog - he is a Native American Indian Dog. She is also interested in researching the use of horses in speech therapy sessions as a treatment modality. She has been riding since she was 8, and can personally attest to the value it holds.

Gina is a contracted part time-therapist for Self Talk. Gina completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication and Sciences Disorders with a minor in Spanish at Illinois State University and a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Midwestern University. Gina's experience includes working in both public schools and private clinics. She has performed diagnosis and treatment of receptive language disorders, expressive language disorders, articulation, phonological processing, voice, fluency, accent modification, cognitive disorders, autism spectrum disorders, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and pragmatic language disorders in school-aged children and adults, for those who are monolingual and bilingual. She has cultivated a special love and professional focus for working with children, adolescents, and young adults with autism and/or social language disorder.

Katie is a contracted part-time therapist for Self Talk.  Katie went to Marquette University for her undergraduate degree in speech-language pathology and obtained her masters of science in speech-language pathology from Marywood University.  She has over twelve years of experience with a wide range of clients in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, nursing homes, out patient, home health, and is excited to add private practice to her list!  katie has a passion working with dysphagia/swallowing disorders and is vital stim certified.  Katie is a busy mom of two little girls who fill up all her free time, but she wouldn't have it any other way.

Stephanie is a contracted part-time therapist for Self Talk. Stephanie completed her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Augustana College, with additional minors in Psychology and Spanish. She received a Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Northern Illinois University in 2013 and has worked in a variety of settings including public schools K-8, neurorehabilitation structured day program, home health, and skilled nursing. Stephanie’s primary skills include diagnosis and treatment of complex communicators, specifically Apraxia, Aphasia, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), Autism, and fluency/stuttering. As a family oriented mom of two young children, she is passionate about implementing a holistic approach to Speech and Language Therapy that includes functional and family derived goals. ​
